This family adventure strikes the perfect balance between action and downtime, with stays in a private villa and glass-roofed cabin, unforgettable experiences carved from snow and ice, and a final night in stylish Helsinki before heading home. It’s a holiday trip that your family will never forget.

Days 1-2:

Dogsled Days & Northern Lights

Arrive in Finnish Lapland and settle into your private villa at Arctic Nook, surrounded by snowy forest near Levi. Then dive straight into your adventure with a private dogsledding excursion led by a team of Siberian huskies, an experience we’ve found to be a favorite with kids and adults alike.

That evening, gather around a crackling fire and hear the myths, mysteries, and stories behind the Northern Lights. If the skies cooperate, you may even see them for yourself. And because this is Lapland, there’s a snow igloo park nearby to explore, too.

Days 3-5:

Snowmobiles & Reindeer Tales

Now it’s time to turn up the adventure. Start with a private ice-karting competition (yes, it’s exactly as fun as it sounds) before heading into the tundra with a guide in search of the Northern Lights.

Later you’ll explore the snowy landscape by snowmobile, then visit a local reindeer farm to learn about Lappish reindeer husbandry, help feed the herd, and settle in around the fire for a rustic lunch and stories about life in the Arctic. It’s a wonderful mix of adrenaline, local culture, and scenery that makes you grateful to be traveling together.

Days 6-8:

Ice Villages & Arctic Escapes

Slow down with a snowshoe trek across snowy hills and ridged heaths before visiting Lainio Snow Village, an elaborate world sculpted entirely from snow and ice. Wander through the frozen spaces before sitting down to dinner in an ice restaurant for a smile-inducing “only in Lapland” moment.

You’ll even get the chance to build your own snow igloo with an experienced instructor before moving to Northern Lights Ranch for two nights beneath a heated glass roof. If the Northern Lights decide to make an appearance, you’ll enjoy the wondrous luxury of watching from bed.

Then round out your stay with a traditional Finnish smoke sauna on the shore of a Taiga lake. For the bravest members of the family, an icy plunge into the lakewaters awaits.

Days 9-10:

Helsinki Farewells

Trade the Arctic wilderness for a dose of city life and fly south to Helsinki for your final night at Hotel St. George.

You’ll stay opposite Old Church Park in the heart of the city, where your hotel’s elegant rooms, contemporary art, and polished atmosphere make for a lovely change of pace after huskies, snowmobiles, and frozen lakes. Helsinki’s friendly embrace gives you a comfortable, dreamy finale before heading home.
